President Phyllis called the meeting of 10 members of the
Chamber to order and asked for a
motion on the minutes. Motion was made
to accept and seconded. Carried.
A financial report was given by
Treasurer Sharon Leitch. Checkbook balance is
$1989.27.
Motion to approve and second. Carried.
Sharon also announced that the taxes are
paid.
OLD BUSINESS: Phyllis Herendeen reported that the Town Wide Garage Sale was
a success &
there were the same amount of vendors as
last year.
The American Flags are up and waving as
reported by Randy Myers. Thanks to all who helped
lower brackets on poles, trimmed some
trees & installed flags:
American Legion 246 members,
Guy Forker, D&J tree service &
Randy Myers. It wouldn’t happen without their
help.
The Goodwill Truck location was moved
this year to the city lot on Orange St. Although
the
turn out was good, there was not enough
room for the truck and cars to get around. Next
year
the Goodwill truck will be back on York
St.
“Creating a Vision for Albion”
workshop, a continuation of the program presented
4-21-08 to
the Chamber by Mary Beth Parsons &
Angie Blevins will be held at the Albion Library
lower level
May 31, from 8:00 am – 3:00pm. We
would like to have 30 persons to participate.
Lunch will be
served. Those interested can contact Phyllis Herendeen at 636-2748 or
email pjhere@locl.net.
A motion was made by Sandy Petrie for
the Chamber to allow the President to spend
$100.00
for the food. Second by Carla Fiandt.
ALBION FUN DAY raised money for the Albion Fireworks.
There was Face painting , games, a
duck race, food and fun for all.
NEW BUSINESS: “The Cougar Closet” a new project in conjunction with CN
School will be in the
garage of the old Brazzell
funeral home. The school Corp. has bought the property for an
alternative school and is allowing the
Chamber to use the garage (after a few fix ups) to
make
a place for gently used clothing to be
given to students in elementary & middle
school. More
details will soon be made available.
President Herendeen will apply for a couple
of Grants to
help get started.
The “Skateboard Park”
meeting will be held June 16. They only
have $3000.00.
